Umineko is a complicated narrative that likes to state a lot of things ambiguously and imply rather than show, and especially so for Beatrice, as a central character around whom most of the stories mysteries revolve. That being said, actually playing a character requires interpretation, so here are some headcanons! Some a bit nsfw, many of them touching on the cws mentioned in my permissions page!

  • She still doesn't like looking in mirrors! She sees both forms in them at once. She is also constantly aware of her true body.

  • As much as anything manifested in the higher world and sea of fragments can be, she is "truly" Yasuda Sayo, but she considers herself to in some respects be as much Beatrice as the person that she used to be.

  • For that matter, every layer of the metafiction is valid on some level! The events of most of the series is no less "real" for the fact that it has a framing author. Umineko imo is in part about stories and we interact with them and they with us, so the gaps in who is telling the story and why are fine.

  • Somebody who knows about her identity can choose to see her in whatever form they wish to, but it seems more indistinct than if she's actually wearing that form.
